Yasser Omar

Yasser Omar studied Physics at IST, in Lisbon, and obtained his PhD at the University of Oxford. He is professor at IST, and leads the Physics of Information and Quantum Technologies Group. In the last 10 years, he was won 11 European research projects in quantum science and technology. In 2019, he founded the QuTe Lab – Quantum Technologies Laboratory, where free-space quantum communications were demonstrated for the first time in Portugal, and the first Portuguese quantum communications payload for a nanosatellite is being developed. He is the President of PQI – Portuguese Quantum Institute.
